Leta Bristol

Born July 5th 1926 in Orange Field, Texas

Went to be with the Lord June 15th, 2019 Renton, WA

Leta married William Bristol, a Navy man on June 30th 1946.  She was 19, and he was 21.  They were married 64 years until he passed away in 2008.  They traveled a number of years with the military until William retired and moved to Bellingham to get a college degree.  They had three children.  Leta sewed all of the family’s clothing, grew and canned food to last a year each year, ran a licensed daycare and sold Avon to help support the family during those college times.

She loved music and sang and played the piano.  She took Hawaiian dance lessons for many years.  The love of hula began when the family was stationed on Midway Island around 1957.  Leta enjoyed sewing.  She sewed large Christmas stockings every year and donated them to a mission in Seattle where they were filled with items and given to needy children.  She also sewed three full sets of Christmas pageant costumes for churches in the area.

Over the years, she had many hobbies;  she cut and decorated eggs with filigree patterns, refinished antique furniture, painted in oils,  Knitted, sewed, and danced the Hula.

As a devout Christian, she was faithful to read the Bible through every year, and attend church services.  She was a generous and wise person.

She is survived by her children Rod, Joyce and Gaylin, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
